托福备考-倒装句详解

倒装句是托福考试中的一个难点，也是写作中的一个亮点。因此，我们有必要在独立写作部分使用一或两个倒装句型。

 

以下几种情况应使用倒装句：

 

1）否定词（组）谓语句首时

否定词主要包括hardly,seldom,scarcely,only, not only....but also...

正常句：A small town does not have as much excitement as a big city.

倒装句：Hardly does a small town have as much excitement as a big city.

 

2)虚拟语气的条件句中（had/were/should)

正常句：If I should be able to institute some change to my native place, I would set up a first-class high school to educate the local children who have been denied such an opportunity.

倒装句：Should I be able to institute some change to my native place,I would set up a first-class high school to educate the local children who have been denied such an opportunity.

 

3)表语提前引起的倒装

A.as(尽管）引起的倒装

Obvious as it is, luck has always been neglected as an essential factor contributing to success.

此句中，obvious as it is=although it is obvious

B.形容词词组置于句首引起的倒装

正常句：The lesson that we can learn from the numerous wars, of which World WarII is the most striking is equally important.

倒装句：Equally important is the lesson that we can learn from the numerous wars, of which World WarII is the most striking.

C.介词词组（among, at the heart of,etc)置于句首引起的倒装

正常句：Whether phonics should be taught at all in kindergarten and elementary school is at the heart of the debate.

倒装句：At the heart of the debate is whether phonics should be taught at all in kindergarten and elementary school.

D.分词结构置于句首引起的倒装

正常句：A domestic migration, from town and farm to city, within the United States was matching the influx of foreign immigrants into larger cities of the United States during the late nineteenth century.

倒装句：Matching the influx of foreign immigrants into larger cities of the United Sates during the late nineteenth century was a domestic migration, from town and farm to city, within the United States.
